There is a popular theory among sellers that Wildberries are being choked with fines for unknown reasons. To understand whether it is justified or not, let’s look at the most popular myths about fines. Myth one. No time to prepare for changes About a year ago, Wildberries informed sellers that it was introducing a double-check of the dimensions of delivered goods, and if the actual dimensions differ from the declared ones, namely, they are underestimated, then the sellers will receive a fine. The background to the introduction of this measure is as follows: previously, the price of logistics directly depended on the storage warehouse, and then Wildberries tied it to the dimensions of the goods.
Accordingly, it became important for WB that sellers indicate the correct sizes in product Email List cards. At first, the marketplace did not try on products upon acceptance, trusting the information received from sellers. But repeated violations on the part of sellers, expressed in their deliberate underestimation of the size of goods in order to reduce transportation costs, caused such a reaction. Information about updating the requirements appeared in advance ; sellers were given a reasonable amount of time to double-check the products and, if necessary, adjust product cards. Moreover, the announcement about the innovation, the timing of its implementation and sanctions for violating the rules constantly caught my eye when working in my personal account and was duplicated in the official WB channel in Telegram.
The image below shows that the change in the logistics and storage calculation system from 10/01/22 was warned on 09/17/22, that is, 2 weeks in advance. Risks of working on marketplaces: fears VS reality Source Wildberries gave sellers enough time to adjust the dimensions of goods and thereby avoid fines. Those sellers who, for some reason, ignored the warning and did not make the necessary changes, when the marketplace conducted a mass compliance check, received those very “giant” fines about which there are so many rumors.” Conclusion: changes do not happen suddenly, they are announced in advance. Therefore, it is so important to follow updates to the WB Offer and news about changes in the rules of work on the marketplace, as well as respond to alerts from WB and take action if necessary.
